Assessing Department hours are Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM except government holidays, vacations, illness, acts of God or any other unforeseen circumstances.

Any questions or inquires can be directed to the township staff Monday - Thursday from 8:00 - 12:00pm.

Policy for Inspection of Assessing Public Records

Requests for documents can also be made directly to the Assessing Department via email, telephone, or fax. Please allow up to 7 business days for information requests to be fulfilled. Depending on the scope of request, a FOIA request may be required.

If a clerical error or mutual mistake of fact is determined prior to the adjournment of the March Board of Review, the Assessor may request the Board of Review to amend the valuation.

Fees for copies

The Assessing Department charges $3.00 per record card, with the exception of no fee for homeowners who request a copy of their own property record card.

Homeowners may also obtain a free copy of their record card online by creating an account at BS&A. All other documents are $1.00 per page.

FOIA

Custom Reports or other extensive document requests may be referred to the Township Clerk to complete a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request form, along with the proper fee requirements for processing.

FAQs

March: Notices of Assessment and Taxable Value are mailed to property owners. A date for the BOR Meeting is set and advertised in the Blissfield Advance newspaper. Appointments to appeal are scheduled through our Office. July: A date for the BOR Meeting is set. Errors to Principal Residence Exemption and Agricultural classification and property assessments are corrected. Where approved, tax refunds for previous year errors are issued by Lenawee County. December: Tax bills for the current year are mailed to property owners on December 1. A date for the BOR Meeting is set and advertised in the Blissfield Advance newspaper. Errors to Principal Residence Exemption, Agricultural classification are corrected. Where approved, tax refunds for previous year errors are issued by Lenawee County. February: The final date to pay property taxes is February 28. After February 28, taxes are delinquent and late fees are applied. Lenawee County will collect delinquent real property taxes.

Tax Collection

Blissfield Township collects property taxes from July 1st, the year of any given tax, through February 28th of the following year. Any taxes still due on March 1st are then turned over to the Lenawee County Treasurer for continued collection.

Any taxes still showing due on this site only indicate that, as of March 1st, they had not been paid to Blissfield Township. Further inquiry as to the status of these taxes must be directed to the Lenawee County Treasurer’s Office.
